The Governance & Compliance Technician will support various functions in the IT Department principally related to IT governance and compliance. Primary duties include policy and procedure development and maintenance, risk mitigation, controls testing and reviews, audit coordination, and extensive documentation work. Secondary duties include assets support, limited technical support, management reporting, and administrative support.


  • Responsible for the development, administration and maintenance of documentation governing the IT department to include policies, procedures, flowcharts and plans
  • Responsible for conducting and/or initiating IT reviews to ensure compliance with controls, policies and processes
  • Responsible for identification of compliance concerns and implementation of controls and/or process adjustments to remediate these concerns
  • Responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and tracking responses for internal and external audits for the IT department
  • Responsible for providing assets, management reporting, administrative and limited technical support as needed
  • Responsible for supporting the lifting and moving of computer equipment as needed
  • Additional duties may be assigned

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education a plus
  • IT audit experience and knowledge of Governance, Risk and Compliance frameworks (COSO, COBIT, ISO27001, NIST, etc.) are a plus
  • SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002) audit experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office tools, desktop applications
  • Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting and moving equipment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Precise records maintenance
  • Strong organizational, reporting, and time management skills
  • Knowledge of IT concepts and functions preferred
  • Demonstrated customer-service orientation and attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Willing to occasionally work extended hours, as duties require
