Senior Accountant


Overview

AmTrust Financial, a Global Fortune 500 company, is currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant in Jersey City, New Jersey. The senior accountants primary focus is to assist in the preparation of AmTrusts 10-Q and 10-K filings. They will prepare, reconcile and review supporting schedules to be used in the preparation of AmTrusts SEC filings. In addition, the senior accountant will be tasked with ensuring all supporting schedules are prepared in accordance with GAAP and the processes for which they are responsible are SOX compliant. Duties include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of 10-Q and 10-K filings
  • Assist in the preparation of schedules to support the 10-Q and 10-K filings
  • Work with external auditors during the review and audit processes
  • Review processes and procedures to ensure SOX compliance and make recommendations to improve efficiencies and controls
  • Work with the IT group on a financial systems transformation project that will improve reporting efficiencies and capabilities
  • Perform accounting research as needed and document findings
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports for management as needed
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting
  • 4+ years accounting experience
  • Public company experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • CPA designation preferred, but not required
  • Public accounting/Big 4 experience preferred, but not required
  • Insurance industry experience preferred, but not required
