Job Description

The Loss Control Supervisor is responsible for oversight and development of loss control services for the pools and subsidiaries.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direction from Loss Control Manager and technical assistance to loss control specialists

  • Monitor loss control budgets and action plans

  • Oversee loss control staff performance and production

  • Assist in loss control specialists performance evaluations

  • Administer loss control services and programs to members

  • Address underwriting, marketing, management and board members loss control issues

  • Develop loss control presentations, programs, services and resources

  • Provide managerial reports and analysis of field production and activities

  • Pursue growth opportunities for loss control services

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

  • The Loss Control Supervisor reports to the Loss Control Manager

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

  • Directs and plans the work of staff members and has direct involvement with and/or responsibility for the hiring, coaching, developing, training, appraising and disciplinary processes for subordinates

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • BS / BA or Equivalent Work Experience
  • Other professional certifications such as Defensive Driving Instructor or Playground Safety Inspector

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years public entity risk management experience

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Above-average communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent research skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Professional appearance
  • Strong organizational skills

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Ability to market and sell risk management concepts and customer service oriented
  • Proficient with various computer programs including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Public speaking experience
