Job Description

Entry level actuarial analyst position
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists in actuarial studies with support from Actuarial staff, including assistance in preparing OPEB
valuations, benefit and cost studies and other actuarial studies
2. Organizes data and analyzes to determine inconsistencies, ambiguities and missing information
3. Prepares thorough and appropriate data requests to send to clients for gathering data to prepare
OPEB valuations
4. Clarifies, with clients and other actuarial staff, the specifics of benefits to be evaluated
5. Assists with (a) the development of actuarial coding for OPEB valuations, (b) calculation of OPEB
liability and projections; (c) development of annual OPEB expense; (d) determination of actuarial gains and losses and (e) other related funding information
6. Creates a thorough and appropriate first draft of the valuation report and exhibits from templates
and exhibits created by other actuarial staff
7. Peer reviews work of other actuarial staff, as requested and when capable to do so
8. Assists in the request for proposal (RFP) process for selection of other actuarial services
9. Effectively communicates with Director and/or Manager and/or Analyst and Senior Analyst with
regard to work assignments, absences, and other matters concerning the department
10. Performs other tasks upon request

1. Work evidences excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading skills and
grammatical skills
