Risk Engineering Representative
SUMMARY & KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
In this role you can either work out of our office or your home. You will conduct risk engineering (loss control) property and casualty surveys of a less complex nature on client or prospective accounts. Under minimal/moderate supervision, provide select accounts with risk improvement consultative services and for multiple lines of business. Demonstrates good working knowledge of risk factors for all lines of business. The coverage area for this role is 3 - 4 hours from Indianapolis. A company car is provided.
-Provide efficient and effective pre-loss, risk engineering consultative service and support to client accounts and agents.
-Work in partnership with underwriting to identify and enhance risk selection and account retention through effective risk engineering practices.
-Evaluate risk quality, identify risk improvement opportunities and work with client accounts to implement effective strategies to enhance the overall risk operations.
-Provides consultative risk improvement services to clients through the analysis and evaluation of existing risk engineering measures, report preparation, safety consultations, and the development of recommendations and corrective action plans to improve loss potential.
-May conduct safety training meetings for clients and staff.
-Continues to increase and broaden knowledge/expertise of the loss control discipline through internal and external training programs. This includes keeping abreast of industry trends, developments, regulatory changes, and state of the art practices to ensure continued effective risk evaluation and consultation.
-Collaborate with co-workers by assisting in areas where and when needed.
-Actively participate in personal goal setting and in the coaching and performance management process.
-Perform other duties as assigned by department management.

-Exhibit positive demeanor and professional behavior toward coworkers, clients and customers.
BA/BS in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Science or equivalent experience with a professional industry designation (e.g., CSP, ALCM, CFPS, ARM, etc.) Must be willing to pursue a professional industry designation (CSP, ALCM, ARM, CFPS, etc.). Prefer 3 years of risk engineering experience or related experience, but on the job training is possible. Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable record. This is a field-based job covering approximately a 3 hour circle around Indianapolis and may require up to 25% overnight travel
Communication and Collaboration Skills:
Professional oral and written communication skills are critical to the success of this position. All Risk Engineering service must be handled with tact, diplomacy and courtesy at all times. Strong skills in explaining information in an easily understandable manner to insureds, agents, and business partners. Listens to customers and gets clarifications. Must be able to collaborate and develop strong team relationships with associates from within and outside the Risk Engineering Department.
Capable in conducting multi line risk quality evaluations of accounts. Must have an understanding of basic risk improvement services. Ability to provide safety consultations and develop effective, result oriented actions plans to improve loss potential on smaller, less complex accounts. Work to build a technical knowledge of industry trends, developments and current standards.
Gather facts and draw conclusions, interpret complex requirements/issues and work independently. The individual must be able to identify and implement key opportunities while researching potential solutions.
