Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans and supervises the work of Claim employees within the department in order to accomplish assigned tasks and contribute toward overall division effectiveness including coordination of work, supervision and hiring of staff, assigning job responsibilities and work schedule of claims employees

  • Oversee the adjudication of all life claims

  • Conducts progress development reviews, counsels employees, evaluates employee potential and provides sound recommendations to management regarding staffing, salary administration, promotions and other actions affecting employees within the department. Reviews production/quality of work and ensures cross training of tasks to maximize unit productivity and effective personnel management.

  • Maintain daily, weekly and monthly reporting for future reference and projections.

  • Ensures compliance with state regulations as well as interpret and apply laws as applicable.

  • Respond to escalated customer issues.

Job Qualifications


  • Must have minimum 5 years of supervisory experience

  • Demonstrate competency in all supervisor functions

  • Ability to lead, coach and develop team members

  • 5 years experience in the life and health insurance industry preferred

  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, primarily Excel and Word

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to align team performance for customer focus and success

  • Technical professional knowledge and skills

  • Leveraging Diversity and Conflict Management skills
