We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Corporate Finance team in Plymouth, MN. This position reports directly to our Finance Director and is heavily focused on capital and financial modeling as well as aspects of the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) process.

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for managing and maintaining the OneBeacon consolidated forecast, including regular preparation, analysis, and interpretation of regulatory and rating agency capital models as well as for use in ad hoc projects. In addition, the Senior Financial Analyst works closely with the Corporate FP&A team in the annual underwriting planning and budgeting process.

  1. The Senior Financial Analysts works with various finance teams, including tax, treasury, investment management, and corporate FP&A to develop a comprehensive forecast used for weekly and monthly reporting as well as ad hoc projects.
  2. The Senior Financial Analyst uses data to build models, sometimes complex, to better project and understand financial results and/or analyze alternative scenarios.
  3. The Senior Financial Analyst works with the Finance Director on rating agency and regulatory management, including the development of materials used for interactions, completion of surveys and requests, and assessment of model accuracy.
  4. The Senior Financial Analyst may be called upon to assist in assessing new business opportunities through the determination of capital requirements and related profitability targets.
  5. The Senior Financial Analyst may be asked to build financial models and apply valuation techniques to assist in the financial assessment of various corporate projects.
  6. The Senior Financial Analyst manages aspects of the annual underwriting planning and interim forecasting processes by creating project plans and facilitating status meetings.
  7. The Senior Financial Analyst oversees the expense allocation methodology, and works with business finance leaders to ensure consistency with expectations. Works with Financial Systems team to implement approved changes to dependent systems.
  8. The Senior Financial Analyst assists in the annual evaluation of the effectiveness of OneBeacons planning systems and recommends potential changes to improve efficiency and implements approved changes.
  9. The Senior Financial Analyst assists in the development and implementation of training programs for departmental personnel.
  • Strong analytical and data organization/interpretation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, create analyses on short notice, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Operates with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and finance concepts applicable to the Insurance and/or Financial Services industries.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal, written, and visual communication.
  • This level is building skills for managing staff.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Significant progress toward CFA certification preferred
  • 4-8 years of related experience
