Responsible for the underwriting, pricing and negotiation within delegated authority. Goals are focused on supporting key business objectives including account retention and account growth. The incumbent is accountable for underwriting in a high volume environment. Territory is countrywide. Under moderate supervision, operates within authority as delegated by the Business Center Underwriting Director. This job does not manage others
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Evaluation of complex new, renewal and endorsement activities to accept, modify, decline and price accounts. Responsible for individual risk pricing and retention, within the context of overall book financial objectives. Provide technical underwriting analysis and recommendations to other employees within Travelers Small Business Underwriting and Business Centers. Responsible for insuring compliance with underwriting strategies and regulatory requirements. Provide excellent customer service support to agents and Travelers Small Business and Underwriting Centers. Responsible for engaging with agents to negotiate and close individual transactions. Understand and effectively utilize competitive market data. Provide technical expertise in the delivery of underwriting training supporting the needs of the local Business Center teams. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum two years underwriting experience required.
Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Four year college degree or related insurance industry experience preferred. Three or more years underwriting experience preferred.

Licensing or Certificates
Insurance Designations (CPCU, INS) preferred. Insurance Brokers License preferred.
