  • To manage and monitor the handling of property claims to assure compliance with established company standards and guidelines
  • To assist in the development of Claim Department personnel; to review, develop and monitor Claim Department systems and procedures


  • Supervise a Property Claim Team working in our Marietta Pennsylvania Office
  • Examine file handling to determine that company standards and guidelines are being followed
  • Monitor reserves for adequacy, activity and timely closing
  • Train, educate and develop staff
  • Review and recommend changes (when applicable) on the lists of approved Independent Adjusters, Experts and Attorneys
  • Monitor workloads of staff
  • Maintain good relationships with agents, policyholders, and all company personnel
  • Cooperate with other company departments
  • Monitor and control loss adjustment expenses
  • Ensure smooth and prompt flow of claim work
  • Compile required management reports
  • Maintain awareness of industry changes by review of trade journals, case law, etc
  • Establish educational goals for self and staff
  • Evaluate staff and make recommendations for salary review
  • Make recommendations on hiring staff employees
  • Address employees with performance issues and prepare development plan to resolve the issues
  • Ensure staffing levels are appropriate, i.e.: scheduling of staff vacations, etc
  • Monitor the need for staff. Recommend additional staff or reductions when needed
  • Participate in job interviews and the selection process
  • Review, develop, and monitor Claim Department systems and procedures



  • Minimum of 5- 10 years of claims experience
  • Prefer 3-5 years supervisory experience



  • 4-year College Degree or equivalent experience



  • Very strong technical knowledge of claim handling procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Possess strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • PC skills to include:
    • E-mail applications
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel
    • Basic knowledge of Xactimate and Xactanalysis
    • Mainframe applications applicable to performance of position responsibilities
    • Industry specific software applications applicable to performance of position responsibilities
