The Stakeholder Relations and Corporate Thought Leadership team, part of Allstates Corporate Relations department, is looking for an intern to support the teams Thought Leadership work. This is an opportunity for the ideal candidate to gain insights into the process, communication strategy and activities supporting Allstates most senior leaders.
This is a summer 2018 internship which begins in May or June 2018 and will run for 12 weeks.
We are looking for future leaders who have a deep interest and general understanding of communications and public relations. The Corporate Relations (CR) Intern must have an ability to think creatively, desire to take ownership of assigned work, cultivate relationships and partner with colleagues in CR and across the enterprise. Additional skills and experience include the following:
- Ability to assist in the execution and planning of communication strategies
- Ability to develop a basic tactical plan with timelines and identified audiences
- Prior agency or corporate public relations internship experience is ideal
- Previous academic, extracurricular and/or work experience related to public relations is strongly preferred
Project Management/Administrative: Actively participate in project meetings from inception to delivery. Organize projects into discrete tasks and effectively manage time to complete assignments. Be willing to assist colleagues with various tasks, including handling administrative tasks as needed.
Writing: Assist in drafting communications to Allstate leadership, including editing and finalizing briefing materials.
Building Relationships: Cultivate relationships across CR and with colleagues across the enterprise.
Strategy & Planning: Assist in the execution and planning for stakeholder engagements, (e.g. event planning). Develop tactical plans, outline timelines and identify key stakeholders.
Research: Assist or lead research assignments for stakeholder engagements.
Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in fields such as Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Strategic Communications, Public Relations or English
- Previous academic, extracurricular and/or work experience related to public relations is a plus
- Knowledge of public relations trends and best practices is a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience using social media tools
- Self-starter and creative thinker
- Ability to organize and manage multiple work streams in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well with business professionals of varying backgrounds, talents and management styles
- Capacity to process detailed information quickly and synthesize information into communication tactics that resonate with and engage stakeholders
The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
