Job Description

Allstate Buiness Insurance Program Development establishes, grows and cultivates relationships with the national associations of each of the T8 verticals across the country, driving increased premium growth through the agents

Job Summary

The Allstate Business Insurance Program Development Leader is responsible for generating profitable growth and increased market share for BOP by cultivating and managing association and supplier relationships. With input from ABI Senior Leadership Team, establishes the strategic direction for marketing and effectively leads and directs distribution/support activities for T8 verticals. This position reports directly to the President of ABI and will matrix to both ABI sales and marketing leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Relationship Management

  • Works towards gaining association endorsement for our BOP product in each of the T8 verticals

  • Develops relationships with industry leading suppliers and centers of influence within each of the T8 verticals (and cultivating joint ventures/partnerships)

  • Building rapport and seeking BOP endorsement for key Corporate Accounts within the T8 verticals

  • Acting as a liaison with BOP line management, underwriting, state management, sales and business development for T8 verticals

  • Coordinate key agent communities of interest for the T8 verticals (social networks, calls, meetings for IPLs)

  • Key contributor in the T8 vertical competitiveness calls (and solicit participation & feedback from IPLs)

  • Develops T8 vertical relationship reporting package to ABI Executive Team review (monthly update)

  • Builds and maintains relationships with senior management and influences company officers.

  • Sets operational parameters for collaborative efforts and teams within and across functional lines.

    Product/Project Management

  • Develops affinity business plan for T8 BOP verticals(production, retention, education, and profitability)

  • Coordinates with field sales for production and communication strategies to achieve and sustain business plan objectives within T8 affinities/partnerships.

  • Oversees and manages the communication of sales data and other key information to ensure vertical leaders and associations are well educated, motivated, and supported in a timely manner.

  • Communicates key strategies and initiatives to all partner channels.

  • Champions new ideas and initiatives; identifies and actualizes new business opportunities; fosters innovation and calculated risk-taking.

Job Qualifications

Experience and Knowledge

  • 4 year college degree

  • At least 10 years sales and client relationship experience in comparable industries, with 7+ years in a senior management position

  • Ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels

  • Ability to design and establish financial goals and measures

  • Experience in a leadership / general manager role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of business unit strategies

  • Outstanding consultative selling abilities and excellent interpersonal skills with executive level customers and partners

Analytical and Technical Skills

  • Demonstrates ability to analyze financial data and assess market conditions, trends and indicators

  • Displays knowledge of all aspects of sales process and drivers (projections, goals, targets, shop, buy, cross-sell, retain, profitability, compliance, quality, etc.)

  • Strong sales, communication and relationship building skills

  • Strong work ethic

Non-technical Skills

  • Superior interpersonal skills Can quickly develop relationships and inspire trust.

  • Strong communication skills - Includes presentation, business writing, negotiation, motivation and relationship management.

  • Problem solving Uses seasoned judgment by applying broad knowledge and experience when addressing complex issues.

  • Planning and organizational skills - Can marshal resources (people, funding, material, support) to get things done; can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal; uses resources effectively and efficiently.

  • Ability to persuade others or gain acceptance of complex ideas where difficult but necessary to achieve goals and objectives.


  • Strong business knowledge and leadership skills,

  • Ability to develop effective internal relationships across business functions

  • Capacity to assume more significant executive responsibilities over time
