We are currently looking for an Underwriting Supervisor to supervise and support the underwriting team and support staff by performing the following duties.

Develops, plans and leads call center activities and analyzes underwriting issues relating to the coverage, underwriting rules and guidelines established by the company.
Ensures all contractual obligations and company objectives regarding production and quality assurance are achieved including changing OIR requirements. Maintains complete and up-to-date copies of all underwriting guidelines, requirements, product manuals, and policy forms stipulated by the carrier, in the form of memos, letters, e-mails, or other forms of written communication.
Works with senior management in hiring, training and developing a high-performance underwriting team that supports risk based underwriting and improve production and quality controls.
Handles all employee issues including performance, discipline, termination and completion of 30/60/90/Annual performance evaluations, in a timely manner. Ensures service standards are met, trains and educates staff.

Other candidate qualifications and skills include:

Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university, business degree preferred; or three (3) to five (5) years of property underwriting experience.
Must have knowledge of Florida Insurance Statutes and Florida Department of Insurance regulations and policies.
Active Florida 4-40 or 2-20 license.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and Internet browser applications. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment, including scanner, copier, fax machine, and calculator.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.
