In this role, you will use your growing business and technical knowledge as well as your superb communication skills to help elicit, evaluate, articulate and translate business requirements into clear technical needs. You will work with other business analysts to help define and visualize workflows, model data and define system requirements and acceptance criteria, both technical and business-focused. You will help analyze and document business problems, develop test plans, and test and validate new system functionality.

Associate Business Analysts, with support from other Business Analysts and Senior Business Analysts, will assist with the:

  • Evaluation of moderate to complex business requirements; process analysis of customer activities to determine alternative business solutions or process improvement opportunities

  • Development and maintenance of business requirements documentation and application standard operating procedures.

  • Analysis and documentation of moderate to complex business problems and recommendations based on research of industry trends, business products, competitors and performance analysis for optimal business solutions.

  • Analysis of feasibility, cost ramifications, economies, or other aspects of programs.

  • Development of business client testing strategies, plans cases and conditions traceable to business requirements; testing and monitoring of testing efforts; review and approval of new system functionality to ensure alignment with business requirements and objectives.

  • Articulation of complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; communication of project objectives, scope and direction to project team; education of IT employees on business vision and plan and both IT and business employees on the impact of change.

  • Creation and implementation of business process standards and procedures; evaluation of industry wide standards; development of methods and tools to track and measure results.

  • Consultation on complex business issues and design considerations.

  • Performance and/or direction of research activities on industry trends, business products and competitors and analysis of trends and tactical and strategic recommendations based on research.

  • Coordination of interdepartmental activities in order to ensure that CIG meets customer expectations.

  • System support of suite of applications; leading of problem resolution as needed to ensure that internal and external customers receive prompt, efficient service in accordance with company policies.

  • Troubleshooting of complex issues, determination of root cause, and design of solutions.

  • Analysis of data to assess quality and anticipation of challenges utilizing data to fulfill business requirements.

  • Execution of ad-hoc queries in support of various business functions.

  • Preparation of user documentation and training materials, and providing for technical training and user support to business groups; development of communication plans and related activities.

  • Performance of special projects as requested.


  • Bachelors or Master's degree in business or technical discipline or equivalent experience. Zero to two years related experience.

  • Demonstrated aptitude in requirements analysis and documentation skills.

  • Experience in communicating business requirements to technical resources.

  • Some experience with the full SDLC, including the end-to-end test cycle and iterative development and delivery.

  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies as well as business process and information flow.

  • Understanding of business practices common across many businesses.

  • Understanding of re-engineering approaches. General knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies.

  • General knowledge of diverse technologies and new and current architectures. Skills in object, data and / or process modeling; financial analysis and planning, business value analysis; business process design desired.

  • Negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills. Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience in P&C Insurance Industry strongly desired.
