Overview: Investigates, evaluates, and resolves Commercial and Personal Lines Property and Inland Marine claims. Demonstrates superior claim service and produces appropriate claim settlements to our clients. It is incumbent upon this individual to understand regulations and the jurisdiction(s) involved in the claims being evaluated.
Responsible for the handling and management of claim-type specific incoming phone loss reports within a functional unit in the Call Center. Investigates 1st Party Homeowner and Commercial Property Claims assigned claims to determine coverage and provide benefits to insured according to Company Guidelines and DOI Regulations; Adjusts or denies claims within the scope of the companys contractual and legal obligations, and communicating those decisions to insured and their agents as necessary; Enters and retrieves online data while establishing and maintaining an electronic claim file folder; Communicates orally, in writing, and face-to-face with Home Office, insured, agents, experts and others associated with individual claims; Reviews and evaluates files for subrogation possibilities.
Qualifications: The right candidate will be a self-starter with excellent time management and sound organizational skills, effective verbal and written communications ability to interact effectively with claimants, customers, and company personnel. To be considered you must have excellent PC skills with the ability to develop timely reports, documentation and correspondence. You must have strong negotiation skills along with the ability to effect timely investigations and settlements. Some level of insurance experience (claims, agency, subrogation, or other), sound people management skills and must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced claims environment is a plus. Candidates must have good analytical skills in order to investigative and evaluate exposure, determine avenue of recovery and bring cases to a successful conclusion.
Education & Experience: This is an entry level position. A minimum of two years of college or the equivalent claims experience desired. The right candidate will have a strong customer service background, superior work ethic and be self-directed. Preference will also be given to candidates that have an insurance background, including claims and multi-line adjusting experience. Excellent communication skills, oral and written, within the English language is a must. Exceptional PC skills and the ability to communicate in a variety of forums.
