General Description:

This individual will support the accounting function by ensuring accurate and timely completion of all lockbox transactions including all cash disbursements and cash receipts. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processes lockbox transactions, including cash disbursements and remote cash deposits
  • Responsible for processing disbursements out of various bank accounts for Universal North America
  • Processes refund checks in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform reapply and misapply entries into the Admin system
  • Preparation of journal entries and bank reconciliations
  • Supports change and process improvements relative to the overall accounting process
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and / or Experience:

  • 1-3 years accounting/finance/cash processing experience required
  • Experience with P & Casualty insurance is preferred
  • Associate or Bachelors in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Understanding of balance sheet interactions
  • Solid knowledge of account reconciliation and ability to identify and drive remedies to ongoing issues
  • Experience in General Ledger architecture/infrastructure
  • Proven use of financial tools
  • SunGard experience is preferred
  • Above average proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, effective communication and data entry skills and the ability to perform in a team environment are essential in this position
