Management and oversight of all aviation claims and designated claims staff – internal and external.  Assist in the continued planning and development of profitable operations of a nationwide aviation business segment within Hallmark Financial Services.  

The Aviation Claims Manager key duties will be to lead and manage a highly effective and efficient aviation claims organization. Develop and manage a highly skilled team of adjusters; and produce a technically superior, consistent, claim product; while providing industry leading customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce a technically superior, consistent, claim product;
  • Achieve key metric performance measurements;
  • Plan and manage to an annual ULAE and FTE budget;
  • Develop and manage a highly skilled team of claim professionals – both in house and field;
  • Develop an aviation claims audit program for aviation and space  lines of business issued by the company;
  • Develop an aviation audit program for IAs and TPAs investigating or managing aviation or space claims for the company
  • Develop and implement a modular aviation and space claims training program;
  • The management of the existing aviation and space panel counsel program for aviation and space claims;
  • The development of aviation and space claims management best practices;
  • The development of SLAs for all vendors used by aviation and space claims;
  • Particpate in the development of aviation and space management KPIs;
  • Manage to 100% compliance of  current SOX controls for aviation and space claims;

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate various senior claims management meetings;
  • Manage or participate in various sub-committees for enterprise claims;
  • Provide monthly KPI and claim metrics reports to the CCO;
  • Manage the  vendor relationship for aviation and space claims; and provide monthly vendor KPIs to the senior claims management team and CCO;
  • Coordinate monthly aviation underwriting/claims meetings;
  • Maintain appropriate state adjuster licenses; and maintain annual required CE credits;

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of state and federal laws applicable to claims arising from commercial aviation or space lines of business underwritten by Hallmark underwriting entities
  • Active Pilot license preferred
  • Possess a strong technical expertise in the investigation and management of aviation and space claims
  • Possess a broad understanding of the aviation industry and aviation and space policy(s) language/coverage applicable to aviation and space  claims
  • Possess solid experience in management of an aviation claims operations with strong business knowledge of commercial insurance financial, IT, and operations
  • Ability to understand business needs and translate into actionable business objectives with thoughtful communications to others
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work in a team environment and be flexible to daily changing needs and job duties
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve, working closely with others to coordinate and complete projects
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to successfully manage in a high pace, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to effectively build consensus with claims management business leaders
  • Ability to execute and deliver projects and solutions on time
  • Ability to be able to review process(s) and determine opportunities for improvement
  • The ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritize
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. Juris Doctorate preference although not essential
  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of relative aviation industry experience;
  • Excellent MS Office, Word, Power Point, and Excel expertise
  • Business travel as required
