Three Ways Employers Should be Using AI to Get Great Talent
Yes, another artificial intelligence conversation. It is almost unavoidable for talent acquisition since you are getting inundated with thousands of vendors with the “AI silver bullets” that will solve all your talent acquisition problems. AI is changing the game, and your company must figure out what investments you need to make in the next couple of years to ensure you find, recruit, hire, and retain the best talent.
Most companies want to solve the following problems:
- Find and hire key talent quicker.
- Manage all communications with job seekers and the talent team.
- Better reporting.
- Bias reduction.
- Predictive Analytics
You will see hundreds of AI solutions if you research any of those topics. Determining what you need will take time, and you shouldn’t be in a hurry. However, there are three things that you can do today that will open up your eyes to what the future may hold. With AI, one size does not fit all.
Chatbots. Gen Ys and Gen Xs comprise a large percentage of today’s workforce. This means that they search and apply for jobs using their smartphones. For companies that understand that their current ATS application process for mobile devices is horrible, the fantastic solution is an AI Chatbot. Can you imagine someone applying to your job on the phone, and instead of getting redirected to a login and password page, a chat starts that asks questions like name, email, and cell? The AI chatbot takes over the recruiting process and can answer questions, pre-qualify, and schedule interviews with no humans. While this is used for high-turnover positions, they are also being trained to help recruit engineers, risk modelers, and actuaries.
Automated Resume Screening. Your ATS is filled with people who applied to work with your company at some point. AI can go into your ATS database, virtually update everyone, and even identify candidates that may be good for your current openings. It can be trained to reach out and start the recruiting process without humans getting involved until interest is found. There is no way a human could do all this heavy lifting. Your current ATS database is a huge asset if it can become relevant again.
ChatGPT. You have to consider how job seekers use AI to find jobs. If you go to ChatGPT and put in this prompt, “What are the top 15 insurance companies in Orlando, Florida, that have claims jobs?”. If your company doesn’t come up, all it means is that your career pages and job pages on your company website aren’t optimized. AI needs to be fed, and employers have an amazing opportunity to make their employment brand and jobs rise to the top. AI will be the new search engine with one big difference. Your SEO will be necessary, but your AI search ranking can be influenced by the pages you have dedicated to your jobs. In other words, create landing pages for your open jobs and add a ton of information about your company and what would get a job seeker to apply. It’s the Wild West!
