SUMMARY: * Brings mathematical and statistical rigor to business and insurance problems. * Performs statistical data mining and other research by applying advanced statistical concepts with guidance from senior predictive modeling staff. * May direct projects that have significant financial impact and may present to senior level management.
PRIMARY DUTIES: * Conducts research and predictive modeling to directly impact business unit performance. * Designs, writes, and tests computer programs for building predictive models. * Designs, implements, and evaluates formal experiments. * Investigates and assists in data analysis. * Assists in summarizing results. * Performs programming in SAS, SQL, or other software to perform data management and modeling activities.
EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY: Bachelors degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, finance, actuarial science, or equivalent and 3 to 5 years relevant experience. OR Advanced statistical (or related) degree and 1 to 5 years relevant experience
OTHER: * Basic to intermediate understanding of database principles. * Strong time management skills (works well with somewhat limited guidance). * Deep understanding of predictive modeling statistical methods. * Preferred experience with analytic programming using SAS, SQL, R, or similar. * Familiarity working in UNIX environments. * Aptitude and desire to learn SAS, modeling, and business intelligence tools. * Effective communication skills.
