We have an excellent underwriting opportunity available. As an Underwriter you will work to manage assigned accounts, select profitable risks and build a profitable portfolio of accounts. Responsibilities:
While working through agents and brokers, prepares proposals for policyholders and prospects whose premium and premium equivalency are between $75K - $1.5 million.
Reviews assigned accounts prior to proposal in Unit Strategy Session. Works closely with Sales to determine the needs of the customer.
Evaluates and recommends plan alternatives and coverages within scope of position';s Letter of Authority and negotiates pricing and coverage programs with Sales/Brokers.
Participates in Team Meetings and Customer/Broker meetings as required.
Ensures that all filings, agreements, security, and other necessary backup functions are completed.
Maintains and reports on profitability of assigned accounts, assures timely completion of all Tracking Reports.
Acts as mentor to newly-hired underwriters.
Continues self-improvement through in-house training and external industry-related courses (CPCU - Advanced Degrees).
SKILLS REQUIRED Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent preferred, continuing insurance education desired
Success driven individual who has demonstrated 3-10 + years of success in a commercial underwriting role with a strong emphasis in GL, Property and Package experience.
Must have exposure to P&C accounts ranging in premium size from $75K - $1.5MM.
Ability to analyze variables, such as type & amount of coverage, loss control, credit reports, and loss experience
Ability to interact successfully with agencies and brokers to build & maintain good business relationships.
