Position Summary:

In this role, under minimal supervision, you will resolve complex commercial property losses generally in excess of $250,000 by investigating damages, negotiate adjustment of losses with corporate management, brokerage personnel, lawyers, accountants or public adjusters representing the insured; present evidence in legal proceedings; makes sales calls and presentations. The National General Adjuster's role varies including direct loss assignment handling, assisting branches or Technical Services on loss handling, catastrophe claims assistance, and management of accounts.

Responsibilities: 

  • Examine claims forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions and other records to determine coverage.
  • Set loss reserves, and controls claim costs.
  • Prepare reports by collecting and summarizing information required by client, local, state and federal government and by Crawford & Company. 
  • Communicate adjustment recommendations to appropriate parties after determining liability. 
  • Recommend litigation when appropriate.

Requirements:
  • A valid driver's license
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical ability
  • Licensed as required by state and local jurisdictions
  • Previous experience adjusting complex property claims or claims with heavy losses. 
  • Excellent knowledge of interpretation of insurance coverages, customs and practices. 

 

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
