SUMMARY: The role as a Business Intelligence Engineer will be to help us successfully implement and support multiple platforms and products for consumption by our business partners. A key success factor for us in our team members is working together to go above and beyond our client expectations. The candidate will be responsible for the gamut of application management and product support responsibilities in an Enterprise Business Intelligence setup in a large-scale environment. The day to day duties require an understanding of BI Architecture, experience in deploying and supporting Enterprise BI server components and client tools along with a substantial knowledge of multiple OS platforms. Perform full Infrastructure Development Life Cycle (IDLC) responsibilities including: gathering and analyzing requirements, designing and developing infrastructure requirements, preparing installation documentation, provisioning applications and deploying the Infrastructure into production. Diagnose reported application problems and work with operations staff to remediate production problems. Ensure that we adhere to established design and security standards. Work with quality assurance team to ensure applications integrity through development of test suites. Experience Required: -5+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience in infrastructure and engineering design, and development and proven technical leadership - Extensive knowledge and experience in Enterprise Business Intelligence tools with very large transaction databases in the Windows, Linux, Solaris and/or UNIX environment - Bachelors Degree in engineering or science related field preferred - .Net and SQL experience preferred - Experience in Fortune 500 insurance companies preferred - Prior experience as part of a large team to develop and deliver a large-scale application that utilizes a data warehouse is required - Ability to work well in both individual and team environments, and have a high level of written and oral communication skills as well as good interpersonal skills and have ability to manage time, difficulty and priorities of multiple tasks effectively - Teradata experience a plus - Have a working knowledge of Ab Initio, Datastage, Cognos and SAS is a must - Have an investigative mind to be able to troubleshoot issues as they arise - Strong knowledge of the operating system(s) memory management, file system architecture, CPU utilization etc. - Understand how to apply hot-fixes, patches, service-packs and do version upgrades - Be patient and customer focused - Have a working knowledge of relational databases being utilized - Understand the security models involved in administering and support - Maximize optimization to improve future upgrades and architecture at the site, e.g., PC only, client server, multi-tier, etc. - Have a basic understanding and appreciation for project management and delivery driven - Understand the backup, purge, archive and retention policy of the operating system and data - Have some experience in developing performance metrics and monitoring a system environment - Excellent communication both in the written and spoken word - Knowledge of Change Management procedures and Release Management with ITIL
