The Claim Division at The Travelers is starting a number of exciting major initiatives. Our platform strategy transforms our entire software portfolio toward agile, component-based services and process-orientated solutions. We are looking for an experienced .NET Senior Developer. A successful candidate requires the ability to act as a strong critical thinker as part of a peer-driven development team. Has expert knowledge of at least one application discipline, along with the ability to rapidly learn technical/business techniques and disciplines of special value to the systems being supported. Demonstrates the desire and aptitude to become the expert in one or more technical disciplines and applies substantial effort to gaining more knowledge in that area.

EXPERIENCE: Experience with ASP.NET and VB.NET, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Optional yet desired experience with .NET Framework, XML, AJAX, SQL Server 2005 desired. Experience with full life cycle development including highly structured test phases is desired. Has advanced research and analysis skills. Knowledge of software development methodologies and their application is desired. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be a proven contributor in a team environment. Ability to develop and present technical concepts to a business audience is a desired.
SUMMARY: Plans at an operational level and manages the effective use of resources to implement a medium sized or multiple smaller assigned projects
PRIMARY DUTIES: Transforms business specifications into cost-effective information systems applications through resource plans and prioritizes work within established budget objectives Provides the project manager/supervisor with timely and accurate information regarding the performance of the assigned projects(s) Builds and leverages effective alliances across the technical and business community ensuring the best utilization of resources
OTHER: Technical Knowledge Has master level knowledge of multiple programming disciplines and a thorough understanding of the business that the assigned projects are supporting. Uses this understanding of the business and systems environment to develop appropriate and timely solutions to daily issues. Has conceptual knowledge of varying technologies and the ability to make decisions based on that knowledge
Business Knowledge & Partnership Creates an atmosphere where business partner's issues are dealt with professionally, and in a timely manner. Suggests solutions that make sense and optimize the value of assigned projects. Communicates openly and effectively in a manner consistent with the audience. Financial Awareness Understands, has input to the budget process, and shares responsibility for cost-effective expense control of assigned projects. Is responsible for important and confidential information
