JOB DESCRIPTION:
Join Travelers Claim Analytics team to help unlock the value of the significant investments this leading Property Casualty Insurance provider has made in the Claim organization. The team needs individuals with the ability and drive to understand changes in the Claim process and the creativity to turn that understanding into an analytic solution. This solution will enable the individuals on the team to communicate that analysis and conclusion deep within the organization on both a macro and micro level. Not only is the opportunity positioned to provide access into the organization from a critical juncture of business and operations, but it also offers opportunity for advancement and expanded learning across multiple functions and disciplines.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analysis of Claim information to provide insight to the business. This includes interpreting data and identifying correlations using both univariate and multivariate analysis.
- Communication of insight with appropriate context to broad array of customers and stakeholders. This can include Claim professionals from front line handlers through the senior leadership team and business partners from Product and Pricing Analysts to Finance team members at a variety of levels. Interaction across the organization includes Claim, Product, Pricing, Actuarial, IT, Finance, Underwriting, Home Office, and Field Offices.
- This role would be looked upon to help teach fellow team members statistical techniques and SAS and offer recommendations to improve analyses.
- Determine value of cutting edge Claim processes to help drive the next level of organizational improvements. The claim organization is continuing to pilot new ideas and determine which ones will bring Travelers to the next level of customer satisfaction and experience, while also delivering optimal claim results.
- Consult with business partners on issues requiring analysis of Claim processes and impact on results. This will include interaction ranging from training sessions to discussion facilitation to peer review to joint analysis to partnership on large research projects.
- Increase the Information Advantage of Travelers by fully leveraging existing Management Information products and helping to develop new ways to look at and interpret the vast array of information as it becomes more accessible through new tools. By identifying new techniques to view, compare, and benchmark information, new opportunities can be identified and prioritized to continue to improve the competitive advantage Travelers Claim organization exhibits in the marketplace.
Required Competencies and Experience
- 3+ years analytical experience with statistical (or related) degree; Property Casualty Insurance experience preferred
- Solid understanding of database principles
- Strong time management skills (works well with somewhat limited guidance)
- 2+ years of working experience with SAS required
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Access skills required
- Basic understanding of predictive modeling statistical methods
- Clear, logical, and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Creative thinking for both analysis and communication of problems and conclusions
- Ability to work in and build strong cross functional teams
