JOB PURPOSE:
Primary Job Function: Investigates and pays benefits for workers' compensation carrier. Outside, and some inside, claim duties including meeting with injured workers, insured, and witnesses.
Job Duties:
· Take statements and investigate circumstances on-site surrounding the claim
· Determine compensability on accidents/occupational disease exposures
· Initiate and modify benefits per appropriate jurisdictional laws
· Negotiate settlements
· Appear at Workers' Compensation conferences, mediations, and/or hearings
· Understand and have a working knowledge of laws regarding workers' compensation
· Assign, assist and direct defense counsel, as needed
Qualifications and Skills Required:
· Bachelors Degree, or equivalent experience
· Proficient communications skills (verbal and written)
· Basic typing and computer skills
· State adjuster license (if required)
· Three years claims experience preferred
