SUMMARY Based in New York City, RVP reports to President of the Discover Re business unit, CORE. Responsible for the development of strategies and decisions which provide for profitability, growth and retention of business in the NYC metro region consistent with overall business unit and company objectives. Incumbent is accountable for the strategic direction and profitable management of a book of unbundled alternative risk business and the development of a strong, productive underwriting and marketing sales force.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and direct the implementation of long and short-term business strategies to effectively achieve profit and growth objectives for the NYC metro region.
Direct and participate in the development of strategic business planning activities that are designed to increase the presence of unbundled alternative risk business; retain the appropriate business; and achieve new business growth.
With senior management, participate in the establishment of underwriting and marketing strategies and standards that reflect the NYC market conditions and, at the same time, meet our growth and profit goals.
Direct all marketing and underwriting activities to ensure that production, financial and underwriting objectives with respect to profitability are achieved.
Marketing and underwriting responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Meeting with agents and brokers to establish, maintain and develop positive and productive relationships. In this capacity, assures that our contractual commitments are met and that we are afforded ample opportunity for business growth. Representing our company and our underwriting strategy in New York City to agents, brokers, employees and the community. Work with other business units as appropriate to support market penetration and financial objectives.
Direct the development and maintenance of effective relationships with internal resources (e.g., Credit, Claim, Operations, etc.) to coordinate the delivery of all related services to clients.
Perform all necessary staff management functions to support profit, growth, and expense management goals in the region.
