PRIMARY PURPOSE: To manage the overall operational service delivery for multiple existing clients including program management, total performance management and assigned customer service team in support of core claims operations and client programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists Managing Director in development of regional strategy, execution of target objectives and financial analysis.
  2. Provides strategic and technical oversight of Program Management services.
  3. Provides leadership and oversight of regional operations ensuring delivery of quality claims administration services to our clients; ensures qualified staff are hired and developed for meeting the needs of our clients.
  4. Fully participates in new client implementation ensuring a smooth transition from the business development process to field operations and program management.
  5. Identifies opportunities to improve the implementation process through client debriefing review process.
  6. Establishes and monitors budget for assigned departments.
  7. Assumes operations responsibility for specific offices as assigned.
  8. Establishes policy and procedures to assure compliance to best practices, claims management services standards, state regulations, and client service requirements.
  9. Serves as a member on various regional and disability operations committees.
  10. Engages management and execution of client and operational initiatives as directed.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs other duties as assigned.
  2. Maintains a quality assurance program to support the total performance management initiative and the consistent delivery of quality claims service.
  3. Establishes relationships and networks across a broad range of people and groups; collaborates with all entities within the company.
  4. Travels as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations.
  2. Interviews, hires and establishes colleague performance development plans; conducts colleague performance discussions.
  3. Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance.
  4. Plans for staffing needs including succession, bench-strength, and new business.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university required. Masters degree preferred. ARM, AIM and/or CPCU preferred. Accounting courses preferred. Each year of related work experience beyond the requirement equates to one (1) year of required post secondary education.

Experience
Ten (10) years insurance industry experience including claims administration, operations management, and technology related experience required. Five (5) years management experience required.

  • Thorough technical and varied line-of-business claims knowledge including managed care and/or IDM

  • In-depth office operations and/or account management skills

  • Strong strategic and tactical skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills

  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products

  • Leadership/management/motivational skills

  • Analytical and interpretive skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent negotiation skills

  • Thorough knowledge of the implications of relevant current laws and regulations

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to delegate responsibilities and duties

  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive

  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
