Scope: Manages business unit relationships and Catastrophe Risk services provided to assigned business units. Partner with business units throughout the enterprise to support their Catastrophe Risk Management strategy. Foster communication between Corporate Catastrophe Strategy and Analysis and Personal Insurance, Business Insurance and Financial Professional and International Insurance. Handle the medium to more complex Catastrophe Management issues around Enterprise Catastrophe Strategy, catastrophe modeling and methodology, and services available to manage Catastrophe risk.
Responsibilities include but not limited to: ¿ Reasonableness of exposure data and modeled results for assigned businesses. ¿ Consultation with senior staff members in the businesses (Underwriting, Product Actuary, and IT) to support their Catastrophe Risk Management strategies. ¿ Communicating CAT related underwriting issues to the Corporate Catastrophe Strategy and Analysis unit. ¿ Leading multi-disciplined project teams to develop products and recommend catastrophe risk methodology changes. ¿ Researching and delivering solutions to eliminate regularly recurring discrepancies. ¿ Directing the handling of periodic reporting and ad hoc modeling requests. ¿ Analyze trends in the modeled results, policy structure and current catastrophe strategies; make recommendations to improve the corporate risk profile and support the execution of CAT strategies in field operations. ¿ Design new processes to enhance customer support; provide better information to manage Catastrophe strategies. ¿ Assists the business units with the understanding and application of catastrophe models and industry issues related to catastrophe management. ¿ May manage employees who run designated catastrophe models (i.e. RMS, AIR) according to industry and company standards. ¿ Represent the company at industry conferences and other external events. Represent the Corporate Catastrophe Unit in multi-discipline and/or joint business unit projects. ¿ Work with IT, Actuarial, Underwriting, etc. on developing and integrating new methodologies or modeling tools.
Education and Work Experience Requirements: ¿ Prior business experience, typically 8 years in property-casualty insurance or modeling. ¿ Experience in product or underwriting in personal and/or commercial insurance. ¿ Strong understanding of interrelationships and characteristics of a large multi-line insurance company. ¿ College degree or equivalent, advanced degree preferred. ¿ Knowledge of the regulatory environment. ¿ Ability to translate technical knowledge to others.
