POSITION SUMMARY: The primary role of Application Administrator I is to assemble, package and deploy J2EE applications to various production and non-production environments on a scheduled basis following Citizens change control policies and procedures. The responsibilities also include configuring and fine tuning production and non-production application server clusters, administering source repository, establishing standards and scripts for automated build processes, and providing on call support to production environments according to scheduled rotation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL, BASIC AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION. THESE FUNCTIONS ARE NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF ALL RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED. • Interface with senior developers, architects and development manager to understand and support application configuration requirements • Assemble, package and deploy applications on various environments (production and non-production) on a scheduled basis following Citizens change control processes • Install and configure application server software upgrades • Monitor and report the health of various environments using application performance monitoring tools • Configure and fine application servers and source control repository • Manage source control repositories • Provide on call support to critical production environments according to scheduled rotation • Maintain documentation for application configurations, deployment processes, and standards • Ability to balance varied tasks and projects and quickly shift focus amongst various systems and applications • Work effectively in a team environment REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required in addition to excellent inter-personnel, written, and verbal communication skills • Ability to quickly triage production issues • Basic understanding of web application design and development • WebSphere application server administration skills • Knowledge of web services and J2EE applications • Knowledge of assembly, packaging and deployment of J2EE application components • Ant scripting knowledge REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of education and relevant experience • 2 years of Java application server administration experience. • 2 years of application assembly, packaging and deployment experience • 1 year web server administration experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Application Performance Monitoring experience • Perforce or other source control systems administration experience • J2EE Application Production Support experience • Java/J2EE application development • Maven or Nexus experience • Microsoft SQL Server • WebSphere server experience • IBM HTTP Server experience
