This position provides an excellent opportunity for leadership, innovation, professional growth and ability to impact future direction of the reinsurance accounting unit. The individual must possess strong reinsurance and reinsurance accounting knowledge, strong supervisory skills, high work ethics and thirst for knowledge.
Responsibilities:
-Manage day to day operations of a reinsurance accounting unit including:
-Supervision of 3-4 reinsurance accountants
-Monitor and assure accurate and timely reporting and recording of reinsurance balances
-Manage timely collections of recoverable balances -Review and approve account reconciliations and ceded and assumed calculations
-Manage preparation and review of Statutory and GAAP reinsurance schedules and disclosures (Schedule F, notes, interragotories, etc.)
-Provide various reinsurance related analysis including: aging of recoverables, reinsurance bad debt, basis for collateral requests, risk transfer analysis, etc.
-Maintain SOX 404 narratives and coordinate and review SOX testing related to reinsurance items
-Participate in reinsurance automation initiatives and maintenance and testing of existing reinsurance systems
-Participate in reinsurer financial strength reviews
-Participate in research of statutory and GAAP reinsurance accounting issues
Qualifications:
-Undergraduate degree
-Over 4 years of reinsurance accounting experience
-2 years of managerial or supervisory experience preferably within reinsurance area
-Excellent Excel skills & working knowledge of Access
-Strong knowledge of financial statements and their interrelationships
-Strong written and oral communication skills
-Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and work in a fast paced environment
