Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Team Leader, works to resolve cases through negotiation, and administers the conciliation process for an assigned caseload in accordance with rules and regulations of the New York State Department of Insurance, applicable insurance law, and those of the American Arbitration Association (AAA). Serves as AAA liaison to the parties and their representatives.
Duties:
Reviews and analyzes cases for accuracy based on applicable laws, regulations and policies; identifies and works to resolve issues; initiates conciliation process/attempts between the insurer, applicants and their representatives (parties.) Negotiates cases by utilizing mediation skills to facilitate communication between parties; furthers their understanding of different perspectives; guide parties toward understanding the issues; and to reach mutual agreement. Initiates and ensures efficient flow of communication and information between parties. Correctly administers outcome as necessary (along with proper documentation) such as: closing cases as appropriate, along with required documentation, and transferring unsettled cases through to the Arbitration process; etc. Responds to information requests and provides related information on regulations and guidelines as necessary. Manages and maintains accurate documentation for assigned caseload; ensures correct identification of documents, records, logs, reports and correspondence; processes/submits/requests required documents. Weighs importance of every issue and ensures that unresolved/complex issues are escalated appropriately; i.e. to direct supervisor or/any available appropriate NYICMC supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education: Bachelors Degree preferred
Experience:
2 + years experience with conciliation/case management systems (OR INDUSTRY EQUIVALENT) AND/OR 2 + years in NYS No Fault Claims administration, and regulation 68, insurance laws, fee schedules.
Has worked both independently and as a team member, managed multiple tasks, and prioritized many shifting priorities and deadlines. Has provided customer service and conducted negotiation to resolve claims and/ or customer issues. Has interfaced effectively and collaborated with internal and external clients, peers, management, and other work units. Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Excellent negotiation, oral/written communication, analytical, organizational and computer skills. Must be able to clearly explain and provide information concerning rules and regulations required by No Fault law and/or AAA. Ability to be customer focused, troubleshoot and solve problems, while demonstrating integrity, and sound business ethics to develop effective working relationships. Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in handling confidential and sensitive customer information. Ability to work well under pressure, and performing duties with minimal supervision.
Required to be able to sit for extended periods of time throughout the day with continuous use of phone and computer keyboard.
