SUMMARY:
Responsible for building strong agency relationships and maintaining a profitable book of business and meeting set new business growth objectives.  Participate in setting agency goals for assigned agencies and work with management to identify and generate new business flow in accordance with our underwriting appetite.  Act as a technical referral resource for less experienced underwriters. 

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Build agency relationships to promote business growth.

Underwrite and price accounts in support of the strategic business plan.  Ensure production and underwriting objectives are achieved.

Support long and short term business strategies to effectively achieve profit and growth objectives.

Follow Select Underwriting Best Practices to evaluate new and renewal Select Accounts business to accept, decline, modify, rate, and quote these accounts.

Responsible for quality control through handling of agency referrals and policy issuance, as well as compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Participate and/or lead related projects and assignments (e.g., review and develop agency production strategy, policy services, workflow etc.).

May provide technical underwriting leadership and guidance for underwriters on more complex renewals, endorsements, and issues.  May help identify and develop technical training needs within the office and developmental opportunities to continuously build underwriting expertise.

Demonstrates the ability to build partnerships with other business groups and identifies and delivers agency and product solutions at the account level.

Maintains an understanding of all Travelers products, services and solutions and initiates discussions with other business units as appropriate.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 2 years sales experience

OTHER:
Strong automation skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

Strong communication, negotiation and analytical skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, decision oriented environment.

Ability to manage multiple tasks (strong organizational skills)

Strong knowledge of Property Casualty business/products.

Ability to translate technical and system knowledge to others.

Strong technical underwriting skills.

Ability to translate technical and system knowledge to others.

Strong knowledge of Property Casualty business/products.

Limited travel necessary.
