|
Complete assigned reconciliations of reinsurance treaties (including analysis of receivables, payables, cash application, collections and contract information), assist with data retrieval and analysis (both internal and third party data), design and maintenance of reports, worksheets or database solutions to promote department efficiencies.
RELATIONSHIPS AND SCOPE:
Under the supervision of the Account Reconciliation Manager, operates within ARS policies and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Interprets, if necessary, treaty reinsurance contract requirements relating to registration, billing and cash application.
2. Reconciles premium and loss control ledgers to receivable and payable registrations. Identifies variances and takes appropriate action to resolve open issues. Communicate with treaty accountant, accounting manager, contracts department, claims department or business units when necessary.
3. Assist accountants with complex and time consuming reconciliations. Work with large internal data sets or 3rd party information to identify and resolve open items. Communicate with all areas involved in the process including reinsurers and brokers.
4. Produce or assist in the design and maintenance of monthly and quarterly reports or ad hoc requests for information. Review reports to produce target list of items that require reconciliation.
5. Design and maintenance of worksheet or database solutions to enhance process improvement within the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics or Business area and/or the equivalent of 3 to 5 years of Reinsurance/Insurance experience.
2. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access including the ability to produce user friendly front end processes using Visual Basic.
3. Knowledge of SQL Server queries.
4. Strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task and establish priorities to address objectives; ability to work independently or within a team.
5. Ability to identify/analyze situations or issues and determine practical/innovative solutions.
6. Good oral and written communication skills required to describe, explain and resolve business situations and problems.
