POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of the position is to supervise the internal field staff responsible for the investigation of suspicious property and casualty claims throughout South Florida. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL, BASIC AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION. THESE FUNCTIONS ARE NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF ALL RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED. • Supervise field investigators to ensure proper claim handling, investigation and compliance with procedures • Responsible for hiring, training, and conducting performance review of subordinate staff • Monitor the SIU field operations for assigned territory • Conduct initial review of property and liability claims and make assignments to staff • Conduct opened and closed files reviews and field reviews for qualitative and quantitative measures • Develop and analyze statistical reports to identify trends and propose appropriate actions • Manage investigative costs and loss adjustment expense • Recognize complex, claim investigation, develop appropriate investigative strategies, and escalates as appropriate. • Communicate and interact with internal business partners, external business partners, and law enforcement agencies and exercise sound independent judgment. • Participate in training and mentoring of internal business partners • Participate in training of external business partners • Research, review, and interpret laws as necessary. • Assist in establishing policy and procedure, developing strategic goals and objectives, and providing direction, support and leadership • Assist in the budgeting process • Keep current on industry activity and trends; report to upper management as appropriate. • May participate in catastrophe planning and response REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Comprehensive knowledge of property and liability claims practices and laws related to SIU • Comprehensive knowledge of fire science • Strong research and investigative skills • Strong quantitative and analytical skills • Ability to effectively communicate, through oral, written, and listening skills • Ability to effectively work with other departments and units within the organization • Ability to effectively work with external business partners • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills • Ability to effectively perform duties in a remote location • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s Degree OR Associate’s Degree with 2 years relevant experience to the position • 5 years combined professional claims experience in SIU and property/casualty claims handling. • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company owned/rented vehicles according to Citizens policy on vehicle use. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s Degree • Industry certifications: Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI), Fraud Claims Law Specialist (FCLS), and Fraud Claims Law Associate (FCLA) • 2 years Florida property and casualty claims • Prior supervisory experience of SIU investigators or demonstrated leadership skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to conduct fieldwork on a regular basis and be able to work a flexible schedule. Ability to sit for long periods, hear and converse over the telephone, and key frequently on a computer. Position also requires the ability to be mobile, operate a motor vehicle, inspect physical damage and work in a highly energetic and flexible work environment. Position also requires ability to travel overnight on a limited basis.
