KEY OBJECTIVES ? In collaboration with the senior ACE Accident & Health team, develops and executes underwriting strategy for the business unit. Product line responsibilities include occupational accident, student accident, global medical, mini med, participant accident, group accident, dental and vision, and employer stop loss insurance. ? Creates, monitors, and communicates underwriting directives for the business unit while ensuring a consistent approach and delivery across the business. This position will work with various support centers of ACE Accident & Health and ACE USA to coordinate their efforts toward achieving profitable underwriting results for the business unit. These units include Operations, Finance, Specialty Claims, Legal, Compliance, Program Services, Reinsurance Services, Actuarial, ACE International Accident & Health, Corporate Underwriting and all other ACE USA underwriting units.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The A&H Chief Underwriting Officer will be responsible for the following activities:
FINANCIAL ? Trends - monitors key performance indicators - renewal change, Tracker submission activity quote to bound ratios, etc. -- across the book of business. Identifies potential issues and develops a plan of action to minimize impact to business unit. ? Treaty - in collaboration with A&H Executives, manages the placement of all treaties and facultative purchases.
UNDERWRITING PROCESSES, PROCEDURES, ETC. ? Underwriting Audit - coordinates and executes internal underwriting and external MGA audit process for the division. Monitors field compliance with key underwriting directives and acts as a liaison to Corporate Underwriting. ? Underwriting Guidelines - in collaboration with the Accident & Health senior leadership team, creates and distributes underwriting directives for the business unit. ? Emerging Hazards - war risk, changes in healthcare legislation or any other Accident & Health matters. Gathers and disseminates information as appropriate and develops a plan of action to minimize impact to business unit. ? Information Technology - acts as the division underwriting liaison with the ACE Information Technology team. ? Underwriting Referrals - coordinates referral process for division. Approves risks falling outside if field's authority. Refers risks as appropriate.
PEOPLE ? Training and Education - in collaboration with the Accident & Health senior leadership team, develops and executes a training program. ? Underwriting Authority - in collaboration with the Accident & Health Executives, manages the delegation of authority throughout the business unit.
CUSTOMER MANAGEMENT ? Customer Advocate - acts as a customer advocate; listens to needs and develops solutions as appropriate. ? Client Service - in collaboration ACE support centers develops a client service strategy to meet/exceed the needs of internal and external customers. ? Vendor Management - identifies quality vendors and develops relationships as appropriate.
