Job Title: Director of Sales
Reports To: Vice President Sales & Marketing

SUMMARY
Plans, directs, and develops sales distribution strategies to effectively sell Commercial and Personal line products via direct and independent agency distribution models. Manages company representatives and agents, nationally and internationally, through subordinate direct reports and/or by personally performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews, assesses and monitors the company’s distribution systems; recommends and implements adjustments as necessary.

Reviews and assesses agency performance (e.g., tiering, incentive eligibility, contingencies, etc.) and e-commerce and takes appropriate actions to improve performance.

Directs and/or assists with market research to identify opportunities for increased sales, improved customer satisfaction and loyalty, and increased retention.

Program administrator for Agency Development Program.

Works with Commercial Lines Underwriting and Personal Lines Underwriting to ensure a close and supportive relationship.

Executes sales and marketing programs, analyzes results, and adjusts strategy and tactics to increase effectiveness. Provides regular status reports about sales and marketing programs.

Manages agency incentive activities including President’s Trip.

Manages Agent Advisory Council and maintains active role in Jewelers Advisory Council.

Develops relationships with jewelry and insurance industry partners to promote and increase growth of commercial and personal lines products.

Establish sales training and development philosophy and plans that achieve stated objectives. Executes sales and product training and development programs, analyzes results, and adjusts to increase effectiveness.

Develops and maintains national trade show relationships (e.g., JCK, JA, RJO, IJO, AGS Conclave, AGTA, Couture, Centurion, Luxury, etc.) to promote and increase growth of Commercial & Personal Lines products. Represents the company at jewelry and insurance trade functions.

Provide guidance and direction for and continuous monitoring of promotional items ordering and inventory.

Works cohesively with Commercial and Personal lines underwriting to ensure a team approach to achieving organizational goals.

Manages budget directly in line with assigned areas of responsibility.

Provides leadership and professional development/coaching to direct reports. Creates a team environment focused on core competencies that continually focus on employee development.

PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Sales & Marketing Staff; Commercial Underwriting and Claims, Personal Lines Staff, Information Technology
External: Appointed agents and CSRs, prospective agents, commercial insured’s and prospects, jewelry industry representatives, jewelers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises a staff of 6-8 exempt employees and 3-5 non-exempt employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Commercial and Personal line marketing/sales background required. Knowledge of the independent agency distribution system preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Outlook software programs. Advanced skills in Excel. Ability to use the Company’s policy and claims computer systems.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Property/casualty insurance license in good standing.

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Travel will encompass up to 25% of the position via commercial airline, auto, etc.
