Job Description:
As a member of our underwriting support team, provide a high level of support to our underwriting efforts. In this position, you will assist in the preparation of new business quotes and issues as well as rate new business and renew applications while maintaining a high level of accuracy and meeting assigned due dates. Your underwriting skills, experience and industry knowledge will be used to correspond with various parties including rating bureaus, clients, as well as other underwriting staff.
Responsibilities:
Perform exposure comparisons and loss trending/developing, review applications, assure issuance of policies. Quote/issue all lines of coverage and process endorsements. New business quote support tasks include classification of exposures, completion of loss trend and analysis of large claim and prior audit information for renewal business, requesting additional information as needed. Review applications and ensure quality of policies and correspondence and respond to customers inquiries. Prepare new business quotes and proposals for assigned underwriter’s review. Properly respond to correspondence from clients and rating bureaus, review, and take appropriate action within designated timeframes. Attend agent meetings with assigned underwriter as needed to build rapport and instruct on rating and renewal procedures.
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED required. Five years commercial insurance underwriting assistant experience working with mid and large size accounts, Knowledge of various rating plans used pricing larger size accounts. Multi-line rating experience including workers' compensation. Knowledge of commercial coverages, endorsements, rules and regulations. Excellent interpersonal, decision making and analytical skills required. Ability to work in a team environment. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent verbal and written skills.
