**This position is in the Fort Myers / Port Charlotte area.
Job Summary:
Provide general appraisal duties to include prompt contact, inspection, evaluation and completion of accurate damage appraisals on vehicles, boats, and heavy equipment. Negotiate and settle claims in a cost-effective manner and within established guidelines. Assist in the training of appraisal and claim staff, as appropriate.
Critical Responsibilities:
-Maintain quality appraisal process in accordance with Best Practices and any state requirements or mandates.
-Prepare damage appraisals that reflect damages incurred using proper repair methods, new, like-kind-quality, after-market, or competitive parts, as appropriate.
-Compare damages and cost effectiveness of repair versus replacement decisions. Evaluate damages as to relatedness to the incident/claim.
-Settle total loss claims and move salvage, as appropriate, and within established guidelines.
-Work closely with Claim Representatives, insureds, claimants and others. Establish and maintain quality relationships with repair shops and other auto establishments.
-Attend necessary seminars and training classes to keep up-to-date on changes in vehicle design and technology.
-Identify potential fraud and subrogation possibilities; refer as appropriate.
-Working knowledge of damage estimating systems needed to complete appraisal process.
-Perform all forms of reinspections within established guidelines for sr appraisers.
-Pay claims / check usage as required.
