Job Title: Loss Control Consultant
Department: Loss Control Department
- Reports to: Vice President of Loss Control

Position Summary: Consultants conduct initial loss control/safety surveys for prospect accounts. Surveys include an assessment of: management commitment, physical conditions, safety programs, policies, and procedures, evaluation of exposures and hazards, and loss history. Consultants will service accounts and provide safety/loss control consulting, safety engineering, inspections, employee and management training, assistance with safety program planning, program initiation, and monitoring. Additional job tasks include report writing, compiling data and performing statistical loss analyses.


- Minimum Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor Degree

Experience: Five year insurance or business/industry loss control experience.

Specific Skills: Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, presentation. Strong interviewing and investigative skills. Must be flexible with travel, changing schedules, and work responsibilities.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc: Must hold or be working to achieve a major nationally recognized certification in safety, industrial hygiene, or insurance loss control. The recognized certifications are: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Associate in Risk Management (ARM).

Working Conditions: Loss Control Consultants are field employees. Their primary office is in their home. They must drive to conduct their business. This can be long distances (10-100 miles/one way). Their work takes them to a wide range of workplaces such as: construction sites, manufacturing plants, garages, offices, warehouses, wholesale and retail workplaces, hospitals, nursing homes.
