The Technical Development Program is designed to prepare highly-motivated college graduates for a technology career at Travelers. The program offers a technology curriculum that includes training in cutting-edge technologies and insurance. Other components of the program include formal mentoring, networking and career guidance.
The Technical Development Program has two paths:
Technical Path, which focuses on advanced programming/analysis tasks including estimating design, analysis, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, implementation of programs and production support.
Business Systems Analyst Path, which focuses on business requirements, design development, testing, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of department/division systems.
Technology at Travelers We are a technology company and pride ourselves on our innovation. Through the use of cost-effective systems and dynamic application development, we have been able to develop many innovative and essential business processes. We have created many ¿first-of-kind¿ applications that have allowed us to set the industry standard in product delivery and customer service. That innovation continues today.
Our distributed environment runs on diverse technologies, including Windows, AIX, Solaris and Linux, and integrates with centralized MVS legacy environment. Our gram-relay network connects our distributed environment to our data center, LAN centers and approximately 200 field offices across the country. In support of this network, we use technology that includes J2EE, .NET, C, C++, Visual Basic, VB Script, Java Script, Perl, HTML, Front Page, Lotus Notes, COBOL, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase and advanced telecommunications technologies. We maintain our own presence on the internet with a multi-site Web hosting environment of more than 100 servers.
Training Opportunities The Technical Development Program focuses on the development of candidates through on the job, rotations or formal training to increase knowledge in technologies and insurance, depending upon prior experience.
Rotational Opportunities The Technical Development Program is a three-year program with a series of rotations that increase in complexity in technology and business, depending upon prior work experience. A typical rotation is no more than 12 months in length.
Requirements You should have a passion for technology and possess an IT-related undergraduate degree. Additional requirements include: > Preferred GPA of 3.0 or greater > Preferred prior internship or work experience > Motivation to succeed > Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) > Analytical skills > Please note that Travelers does not provide sponsorship for entry-level positions
