Summary: Corporate Systems Division includes a wide variety of technologies, both home grown applications and a large number of vendor packages, covering the following business areas: Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Investments, Reinsurance, Agency and Customer Interface, and Administrative Services. Major application platforms include Java, .Net, and mainframe.
As a Senior Architect in Corporate Systems, you will be responsible for working with business and IT organizations to determine how to best apply technology to achieve business goals. For multiple, concurrent projects you will be responsible for the effective transformation of business requirements into enabling software. For these projects, you will lead the architectural decision-making relative to application design and integration. You will be involved in buy versus build decisions. For purchased software, you will lead the effort in customizing, configuring, and implementing the packages. You may participate in product evaluations and selections and/or the detailed design of solution components. Working with project managers, you will provide leadership and guidance to the project teams during the detailed design, build, and testing of these solutions.
In addition to your work with individual projects, you may work on a number of initiatives managed by Infrastructure areas or the central Application and Architecture Services area. You may participate in developing the strategy and tactics for the renovation and replacement of legacy software with colleagues to establish and maintain methods and best practices for software architecture, to extend and refine our reference models, and to keep up-to-date on standards, techniques, tools and enabling technologies.

Qualifications: We are looking for a candidate who ¿ Has significant experience with evaluation, purchase and integration of large scale and small scale software application packages, ERP systems, JEE development, .Net development, Cobol, CICS, Middleware/ESB, EAI, MQ, Cognos, BusinessObjects, FileNet imaging technologies, DataStage ETL, and RDBMS (Oracle/SQL Server). A candidate with a focus in JEE development, WebSphere, and related web technologies would be a plus. Has broad knowledge of the following technologies: Object-oriented programming environments such as Java Enterprise Edition; model based development using the Unified Modeling Language; team programming behaviors such as source code management, merge, builds and testing; database management systems and their related query languages; data and systems integration strategies; distributed transaction management; distributed systems architecture (clustering, failover). Has the ability to work independently and on a team to quickly understand the company¿s business and technical architecture. Has the ability to work and communicate effectively in a geographically distributed organization. Can keep up to date on relevant standards, tools and technologies in their area of expertise.
