Purpose: Demonstrate proficiency in first party estimating, investigation, evaluation and negotiation at the most reasonable cost. Satisfy customer needs and ensure file quality.
Responsibilities and Duties: Handle 1st party Property claims of low to moderate severity and complexity as assigned. Investigate and evaluate all relevant facts to determine coverage, damages and liability of first-party property damage claims. Establish timely and accurate claim and expense reserves. Negotiate and convey claim settlements within authority limits. Write denial letters, Reservation of Rights and other complex correspondence. Control damages through proper usage of cost containment tools. Meet all quality standards and expectations per Best Practices. Maintain an effective diary system and document claim file activities in accordance with established procedures. Manage file inventory to ensure timely resolution of cases. Handle files in compliance with state regulations, where applicable. Provide excellent customer service to meet the needs of the insured, agent and all other internal and external customers. Identify and refer claims with MCU exposure to the supervisor. Recognize when to refer claims to Special Investigations Unit and/or Subro Unit. Perform administrative functions such as time-off reporting, timesheets, etc. as required Perform any other duties as required. Occasional Catastrophe Duty, including other offices and states may be required.
Knowledge and Skills: College degree or equivalent in business discipline Prior Commercial Lines Property experience a strong plus Skills assessment evaluation may be requested Strong customer service skills Must display solid verbal and written communications skills. Strong investigative skills and be able to develop good work relationship with the business partners. Excellent organizational skills, solid analytical skills, excellent negotiation skills. Ability to write accurate Xactimate estimates. Hardware and software skills and abilities including computers and other similar electronic devices. Good decision making and problem solving skills. Knowledge of claim workflow. Self-motivated, take-charge attitude, teamwork oriented. Independent worker/self-starter & ability to work with moderate supervision. Customer service training; systems training; proper licensing.
