Description: Everest National Insurance Company, a member of the Everest Re Group, LTD, is seeking a Program Director to perform underwriting and program management for the Everest National Program Agents in California. A high level of technical underwriting and analytic skill is necessary to develop and manage business that achieves maximum underwriting profit through risk referrals, audits, and training of agency staff.
Successful candidates must:
Be self-motivated and independent, while confident in adhering to strict underwriting discipline and strategic direction while balance profit and growth objectives. The ability to work in a controlled entrepreneurial environment is critical. Perform effectively in a technical leadership position that will guide and mentor our Program Administrators (General Agents) with implementing underwriting strategy, including underwriting training and guidance as required, handling underwriting referrals within assigned underwriting authority, and conducting semi-annual audits. Possess excellent broker relations and business development skills with in-depth product knowledge in all commercial lines of business. Must be experienced in problem solving, quality control and loss containment initiatives. Effectively integrate Claims, Loss Control and Premium Audit resources. Have the creativity and underwriting skills to develop, implement and control pricing and selection standards that supports strategic objectives and achieve desired financial goals. Possess operational discipline to assure highest levels of product quality and customer service. Lead and manage through influence vs. direct authority: while there are no direct reports it is critical that the individual be able develop needed results through others. Be solution oriented with ability to utilize resources to effectively address issues and operational challenges. Bring recommended solutions to the table, not just identify problems or issues.
Qualifications
Possess 10 - 12 years commercial insurance underwriting experience with emphasis on multi-line Property and Casualty insurance, with background in individual risk underwriting, quality control, product development, and/or field office underwriting management. Excess / surplus lines experience would be a plus. Workers Comp experience desirable but not needed.BS/BA degree preferred.
