Description:
Everest National Insurance Company, a member of the Everest Re Group, LTD, is seeking a Director of Underwriting to perform underwriting and book management for specialty products written directly through Everest National Producers. This includes the development and implantation of underwriting strategies, guidelines and procedures for the underwriting process. A high level of technical underwriting, communication and analytic skill is necessary to develop and manage business that achieves maximum long term underwriting profit and growth
Successful candidates must:
Formulates, update and maintain the development of underwriting strategists, guidelines, polices and procedure to make sure growth and profitability goals are achieved Effectively integrate Claims, Operations, Accounting, Actuarial, Product Management, Loss Control and Premium Audit resources into the underwriting process. Develop, implement and control pricing and selection standards to support strategic objectives and achieve desired financial goals. Maintain awareness of competitor products and the overall insurance marketplace to be able deal with threats and exploit opportunities. Monitors underwriting results and activities to assure compliance with company underwriting standards and implements corrective action as necessary. Participate in the evaluation and development of the underwriting components for new markets segments.
Qualifications: Be self-motivated and independent while maintaining underwriting discipline to achieve strategic objectives. Possess a minimum of 10 years multi-line commercial underwriting experience with background in underwriting management, individual risk underwriting, product and book management, product development, and field or office underwriting management. Environmental underwriting experience is a plus. Perform effectively in a technical leadership position to develop and implement underwriting strategies, including new products offerings. Provide underwriting training and guidance as required and handling underwriting referrals within assigned underwriting authority. Possess excellent communication, broker relations and business development skills to build positive relationships with our business partner and through their in-depth product knowledge in all commercial lines of business achieve compliance with company's goals and objectives. Must be experienced in problem solving, quality control and loss containment initiatives. Possess operational discipline to assure highest levels of product quality and customer service. BS/BA degree preferred.
