The Risk Management and Safety Specialist provides basic loss control service to clients located within a defined geographical area. Their primary mission is to fulfill client service responsibilities as outlined in our service agreement and to help reduce financial loss in our Workers' Compensation program by recommending hazards/exposures controls, assisting with the implementation of effective safety programs and providing safety awareness training.

1)Client Service: Field client service position providing routine safety and safety training services to client management and the client’s employees
2)Loss Control: Conduct interviews of client management and perform physical surveys of client premises to determine hazards and exposures associated with the client business operations and evaluate the adequacy of controls of the exposures and hazards.
3)Territory Management: Provide coordinated client service and loss control services to all clients located within a specified geographical territory.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Four-year degree in an engineering, safety or industrial health discipline.
Three years or more years of practical loss control experience as Loss Control Representative working for an insurance carrier or on the job experience in an industrial setting a safety professional.

Achievment of one or more of the following professional certifications is preferred:
Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Associate Risk Management (ARM)
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

Experience:
Minimum of three years field loss control experience in an insurance related business or minimum of three years experience as a safety professional in an industrial setting
Professional Employer Organization field loss control experience desirable.
Has a good understanding of insurance and loss control is required
Knowledge of OSHA regulations is required.
Understanding of computer applications including MS Office Suite especially Word & Excel and use of the internet.

Generic Skills:
Strong oral communication skills
Presentation skills desirable
Ability to perform job with minimum supervision
Possess good computer application skills
Able to use good judgment in assessing risk
Must be able to handle conflict in a mature manner.
