Corresponds with a wide range of sources to gather facts for claim processing and settlement. Under limited supervision, verifies coverage, advises insured and claimants and orders claim drafts on a timely basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Correspond with insured, agents and claimants by telephone and mail on routine assigned claims to verify coverage; take initial loss report or messages for adjuster staff; and report on status of claims or payments; may advise insured or claimant on company policies and procedures related to assigned losses.
Promptly process files in response to external or internal mail attached such as loss reports or requests for payment: prepare forms, logs and claim documents; screen documents for completeness and accuracy; and forward to proper area for action.
Verify coverages, deductibles and other required information to set up a claim file by referring to microfilm, sales debts or underwriting sources.
Correspond with car rental firms, repair facilities, adjusters and appraisers to make proper payments. Correctly determine payment amounts and order drafts to pay costs for which the company is responsible; close files.
As assigned, assist other unit employees; may include related clerical or data entry tasks.
Other activities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Must have previous Insurance experience, specifically in Claims.Preferred Workers Compensation, medical only claims experience.Will consider those with Property/Liability claims experience.
