Job Summary

Allstate Internal Audit (Allstate IA) team members provide analysis, appraisals, and recommendations to leadership teams and senior executives on whether significant operational risks are being properly mitigated. Our team applies their knowledge, insights and objectivity to help the organization by evaluating the design and effectiveness of controls embedded in strategy, governance, operations and risk management processes across both insurance and non-insurance businesses.

The IT and Security Audit team applies a risk-based approach to technology and integrated audit projects that are operational and strategic in nature, develops audit programs and project plans, and has full accountability for the lifecycle. The technology audits focus on various aspects of IT, like cybersecurity, emerging technologies (e.g., cloud, mobile, SaaS), security, IT operations and exposure to cutting edge technology methodology such as Agile. This team also collaborates with risk management functions for coordinated engagements on large scale strategic initiatives throughout Allstate

The IT Audit Manager position is part of a larger team responsible for assessing technology risk and control within Allstate. The broader team will be comprised of individuals with a wide range of skills and experiences within the technology arena. The IT Audit Manager will manage and maintain the portfolio of IT and integrated technology audits, while acting as relationship owner to audit clients and their respective areas. The role will be working in a collaborative environment to deliver reviews where knowledge, experiences and internal/external networks can be leveraged to achieve results. In addition, this role plays a key function in developing the lead auditors of tomorrow during each engagement through coaching, and delegation to ensure the project follows department guidelines and professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, scope, coordinate, conduct and report on technical IT risk and control reviews.
  • Manage and contribute to building the continuous audit program through leveraging analytics.
  • Ensure audit objectives are achieved with quality while focusing on staff development during the execution of our audit engagements.
  • Maintain client relationships. Keep client areas informed of the audit plan and upcoming audit engagements within their area of responsibility. Address client concerns in a timely manner.
  • Support the development of a team to build broad and deep bench strength in technical audit skills.
  • Substantiate and validate process discrepancies and provide recommendations.
  • Manage and work with other team members including with guest technology specialists and/or co-source providers for delivery needed to audit the assigned area.
  • Actively manage and contribute to Allstate and Internal Audit's Strategic Initiatives.
  • Establish credibility and trust with business and IT clients.
  • Navigate the current IT risk / control environment at Allstate and provide thoughtful feedback to assist with the quarterly and annual risk assessment work.
  • Effectively communicate the context and need for a strong and cost-effective internal control environment and risk management practices.
  • Share experiences and lessons learned to educate broader team. Educate other departmental resources and management on technical topics and processes.
  • Provide input regarding the performance management process according to company standards for less experienced audit personnel.
  • Manage ad-hoc advisory engagements while working hand-in-hand with business units to share risk considerations as they undergo strategic projects

Job Qualifications

  • Eight or more years of IT audit experience, with three or more years of proven IT audit management experience
  • Public accounting / consulting related experience a plus
  • Excellent leadership, project, and time management skills
  • Articulate, inspire, and engage commitment to a plan of action aligned with organizational objective
  • Demonstrate proven people management experience.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills including ability to work well with senior leaders.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication, strong partnering skills, and ability to interact with various levels of management and external stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in a matrix organization across multiple teams.
  • Knowledge of financial services or insurance process is a plus.
  • Thrive on change and continuous improvement

    Education:

  • Bachelors degree in business or IT required and a Master's degree is a plus.
  • CPA, CIA, CISSP or CISA is preferred
  • Proficient in analytical tools such as ACL, R, Hadoop, SQL or Business Objects
