Description:

The Consumer Insights team supports business units across Global Retail Markets with actionable insights and recommendations that drive strategy. As the Director of Marketing and Consumer Insights, you will be at the forefront of driving research and insights for several departments across Global Retail Markets, including Marketing, Digital, Safeco, and Global Markets.

In this role, you will lead a small, high performing team of research and analytics professionals. You will partner closely with the Marketing team to lead the in-market measurement and analytics for Broad Reach Advertising. You will work closely with the Customer Marketing & Technology team to lead research that drive customer retention efforts, promote digital & deflect calls, and inform strategies that create seamless omni-channel experience for our customers. You will also work closely with Product Owners across several Digital teams to improve our online sales and experiences. And, you will build global relationships and lead international research efforts to help us understand how we can grow our business across multiple countries with varying consumer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build cross-functional relationships across several Global Retail Market teams to support key imperatives including driving growth, improving digital sales, improving customer centricity, and building out omni-channel capabilities

  • Lead high-impact and high visibility research studies that measure success of advertising efforts and provide recommendations for action, including leading monthly advertising media rotation meeting with leaders in Marketing and Analytics, conducting deep dive analyses of campaign performance, guiding the direction of new campaigns, and tracking our efforts against KPIs

  • Scale our Digital Research efforts by partnering with Product Owners across multiple Digital lanes in order to improve online sales, increase digital engagement, and improve omni-channel experiences; participate in quarterly planning meetings to inform digital strategies

  • Develop consumer insights to drive market strategy in all 19 international markets. Conduct research spanning all markets to identify synergies by market and partner with individual countries to support their unique research and strategic priorities.

  • Conduct competitive analysis and research findings to create relevant marketing messages. Act as the primary contact for Marketing and Legal to launch marketing claims in-market.

  • Applies highly advanced principles and concepts to oversee the selection of the best primary and secondary research methodology, utilizing a broad understanding of different alternatives and benefits and limitations of each

  • Manages the analysis and interpretation of results, utilizing a broad understanding of statistical concepts; present findings, conclusions, and recommendations for actionable business plans that will address complex business problems and/or size market opportunities utilizing subject matter expertise based on an in-depth understanding of the business

  • Conducts long term planning and oversees large-scale marketing studies that will determine the future direction of the organization; research prioritization decisions are critical to the overall success of the organization

  • Manages vendor relationship to ensure cost effectiveness and quality of services are delivered, and negotiates contracts for the purchase of additional services from market research vendors

  • Lead team of high performing Insights professionals, including guiding employee development and creating team environment that fosters positive employee experience and engagement

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree with at least 10 years of business experience applying market research and database marketing analysis to business planning. Advanced business degree preferred.

  • Broad knowledge of different types of marketing research, including the benefits and limitations of each. Broad knowledge of marketing databases and querying tools.

  • Expertise in SPSS or SAS statistical program.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex research results, apply them to business issues, and make strategic recommendations for action. Management experience desired.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to present in a clear, compelling fashion.

  • Proven ability to partner with and influence key business partners across GRM-US

  • Eager to contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment. Able to remain optimistic and positive in the face of setbacks. Curious and eager to learn and try new things.
