Position Overview:

The successful candidate is responsible for achieving a financial plan through management of an independent agency force through new agency appointments or reengaging existing agencies. They will be responsible for the execution of premier sales strategies; training, initiating and developing effective sales relationships with agents. Create and implement tactical sales plans to consistently deliver on production and profitability goals. As an Inside Sales Manager, you will be joining a new team and helping to grow it from the ground floor.

Primary Duties:

  • Identify, evaluate and develop agencies that fit our profile and exceed production goals.
  • Understand specific industry characteristics including needs and buying patterns.
  • Effectively position our products, platform and services by developing annual agency flow and production goals.
  • Establish strong producer relationships through consistent and frequent contact and development of relevant agency business plans.
  • Maintain superior knowledge of competitor products and capabilities along with local market trends.
  • Own the execution of the Business Development Process and Best Practices.
  • Work collaboratively with other business departments to ensure Stillwaters ease of use experience.

Education: 4 year college degree or related business experience.

Work Experience: 2+ years insurance marketing or sales responsibility. Commercial and personal lines experience preferred. Prior B2B sales experience.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills; listening and presentation skills.

Software Skills: Experience with Salesforce or another CRM is preferred. Moderate Excel abilities are a plus.

Collaboration and Relationship Management: Committed and resilience to build and sustain long-term productive internal and external relationships; ability to effectively deal with pressure, work-related issues in a professional and positive manner.

Agency Management: Thoroughly understands agency business and behaviors; develops production required to achieve annual goals; advising and consulting to agency constituents to develop mutually beneficial outcomes.

Adapting to Change: Adapting to changing situations, restructuring tasks and priorities as changes occur with the business.

Decision Making: Effectively interpret company data to evaluate growth areas and agency performance.

Financial and Business Acumen: Demonstrates market knowledge; territory opportunities and competitive strengths and weaknesses.

Ethics: Upholds a high standard of ethics in all actions.

Stillwater was founded in 2000 as the Fidelity National Property and Casualty Insurance Group, a branch of the Fortune 500 company Fidelity National Financial (FNF), the country’s largest provider of commercial and residential title and mortgage services.

Since its beginning, Stillwater has been under the direct leadership of President and CEO Mark Davey, who was tasked to test the waters of property and casualty insurance for FNF in California in 2000. Through setting up a managing general agency (MGA) and purchasing Anza Insurance (to be renamed Fidelity National Insurance Company), he formed the sales and underwriting core of FNF’s insurance division – as well as the “seed” of the group of companies that would one day be branded as “Stillwater.”

By 2002, the insurance division of FNF had rapidly expanded its geographic footprint and was ready to move beyond the Golden State. Fueled by vision and a passion for the industry and its customers, Davey and his growing team executed a strategy of both forming and acquiring additional companies.

  • In 2002, they formed Fidelity National Lloyds to serve a broader variety of consumer needs.
  • In 2003, they acquired First Community Insurance Company, which was eventually renamed Stillwater Property and Casualty Insurance Company.
  • Later in 2003, they acquired Mutual of Omaha’s flood and personal lines business. The acquisitions made FNF the country’s largest flood insurance provider both overall and through independent agents.

The strategy helped the division grow its business volume, as well as the division’s talent, product breadth and technology capabilities – all critical elements of a customer-focused insurance provider.
