Job Summary
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Under direct supervision of the Operations Manager or Operations Director. Position is responsible for all activities related to filings services in support of agents, insured's, Account Executives, Account Managers, federal/state commissions and Canadian Provinces. Prepare motor carrier filings for all business units. Utilizes judgment and department guidelines to resolve problems related to filings while providing quality service to internal and external customers. Perform all related activities in an efficient/cost effective manner. This job does not manage others

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for meeting extremely critical standards for accuracy and timeliness in a customer service and compliance capacity. Ensure all filings meet regulatory requirements with applicable state/federal agencies. Thoroughly review incoming requests for completeness and compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements. Refer those that are outside the guidelines to the Underwriting Department for approval. Review and process amendments and reinstatement of cancelled filings within the designated guidelines. Issue filings in accordance with federal/state regulations. In this capacity, ensures appropriate forms are utilized and ensures that all policy information is accurate and filings are submitted within established timeframes. Understand state and federal guidelines and make only necessary motor carrier filings. Issue cancellations in accurate, timely manner per regulatory requirements to ensure company is not held liable in the event of a loss after policy cancellation/expiration. Update commission approved filings into database. Resolve issues with rejected filings and re-issue to ensure acceptance. Maintain current level of knowledge of all regulations through review of regulations and bulletins published by federal/state governments. In this capacity, researches and interprets complex federal/state laws, with guidance as necessary from Manager to ensure compliance related to processing filings and the use of correct forms. Responds to filings issues including reviewing/researching regulations, contacting regulatory agencies for information and determining approach to satisfactorily resolve issues. Maintains solid relationships with key people within agencies and commissions. Researches problems and corrects errors as appropriate. Responsible for training agents and Account Managers in motor carrier filing rules, regulations, and guidelines. Shares information and maintains confidentiality. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma required. 4 years business experience required. Moderate skill in computer systems and various software applications. Customer service skills required. Clearly communicate both written and verbally. Interacts effectively at different levels and within different audiences. Carefully listens to internal and external customer needs to help develop appropriate solutions. Able to deal with difficult people and situations. Solid analytical and organizational skills required. Works independently and in a team environment required. Adapts to new situations and changing priorities required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Some college preferred. Knowledge of Commercial Auto insurance coverage's and terminology preferred.

Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of Commercial Auto functions, procedures, policies, etc. in supporting filing activities preferred. Understanding of the insurance business - products, field operations and support systems - and the issues it faces preferred. Knowledge of motor carrier regulatory compliance functions, processes and procedures preferred.
