Regional Insurance Carrier is looking for Business Development Underwriter to handle Virginia. This is a growth role and they will divide the territory based upon location of the future hire. Must have both strong contacts and underwriting background, with strong understanding of Workers Compensation. This will come with a company car, work from home and a top notch benefits package including pension, bonus and 401K w/ auto match. 

SUMMARY:

Develops and manages independent agency relationship including the development of new business and retention of existing business in a multi-functional business unit.  Reviews, analyzes, approves or rejects complex business within letter of authority.  Serves as liaison with company personnel regarding company business opportunities and problem resolution.  Responsible for assisting in establishing the business unit's overall agency plan.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, insurance or related field.  Combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Five years experience in an insurance organization with demonstrated technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: underwriting, marketing, loss prevention, auditing or similar knowledge that provide the necessary skills and abilities.  
  • Workers compensation insurance experience required. Progress toward or completion of industry recognized professional designations (e.g. AU, CIC, CPCU) preferred.
